The Airport is Saved!

Update: After a long campaign, we're happy to tell you the news that the Brantford Airport is here to stay! The City has granted $1.9 million to repave the runways this year. A hearty thank you to everyone who helped make this possible. We couldn't have done it without you. Happy new year!

The City of Brantford is reviewing its services for possible cancellation, and this includes running the airport at which we're based. We encourage everyone to take an active part in supporting the future of the Brantford Municipal Airport. On that note, we are very grateful for Aviation.ca having posted our aviation press release and for all their help with the campaign. Thank you!

Brantford's Community Strategic Plan purports to "create an investor friendly environment," which the airport is very much part of, and yet the City has the airport's existence in jeopardy until the service review ends in 2010. Here are some of the letters, press releases, and advertisements we've written that you can read for more information:

Update from 2007/05/24: Vote for the airport in the Expositor's online poll. (You may need to click on their home page link and then come back first to vote. I was getting errors claiming I had cookies disabled until I did that.)

Update from 2007/05/22: Keep updated on the Brantford Airport situation with Mark Culshaw's blog. Thanks, Mark!

Update from 2007/04/04: "We've finally been given a date for the Public Forum: May 24/07, 7pm, Brantford Civic Centre. Here's the deal - the forum will be chaired by one of the most vocal opponents of the airport: Councillor Carpenter." We encourage you to attend this and help everyone to see what a valuable asset the airport is to everyone!

Update from 2007/04/02: Still no word on the forum, but we hope you'll attend the following events:

Update from 2007/03/06: "The Service Delivery Review was put on hold in November as Council determined that the issue would best be discussed after the municipal elections. The process was further delayed as council then dealt with the 2007 Budget. [T]he public forms, the next step in the process is to commence at the end of March or early April."

Note from 2006/10/16: The public forum that was to take place on Thursday, October 19th has been postponed until February.

What Can I Do to Help?

We have an official online petition, which you can sign to tell the City of your support for the airport. We also have a paper petition in the lounge if you are able to drop in to visit us. Thank you very much for your support!
